Office & Public Facilities

As is well known, the design of work and functional spaces directly influences the well-being, concentration, and long-term health of the people who spend every day in them. In public institutions, administrative buildings, offices, workspaces, laboratories, or industrial meeting zones, light, acoustics, and visual structure are central success factors for modern room design.

Architectural Space Design with Impact – for Planners, Project Managers, and Industrial Clients

Primex's versatile solutions – including light walls, luminous ceilings, acoustic pictures, ceiling rafts, room dividers, and acoustically effective partition walls – allow for the ideal combination of functional requirements and design visions. Architects and planners gain maximum creative freedom: All elements can be manufactured not only in classic rectangular shapes, but also in round or freely formed contours – as wall or ceiling solutions, freestanding or built-in.

This freedom of form makes it possible to conceive lighting and acoustic surfaces as integral components of modern architecture – functionally tested, visually high-quality, and flexibly applicable.

Acoustic Optimization – productive rooms with low reverberation time

Especially in open-plan structures or heavily frequented areas, disturbing reverberation times occur, which massively impair intelligibility, concentration, and work quality. The so-called Lombard effect – the unconscious raising of one's voice in ambient noise – further amplifies this effect and, in the long term, leads to stress and a higher burden on employees.

Design Meets Function: Flexible Design with Textile Tension Frames

All acoustic elements are also visual design elements. Whether with calming nature motifs, inspiring graphics, or a neutral design – the freely selectable acoustic textile prints can be seamlessly integrated into any color and room concept.
With high-performance acoustic elements such as ceiling baffles, partitions, acoustic pictures, or baffles, Primex offers effective solutions for targeted sound absorption. The tested absorbers made of sound-absorbing filling material are available in several installation depths and can be precisely adapted to the respective room volume – for predictable, tailor-made acoustic quality.

Visual Zoning & Structure through Room Dividers and Wall Absorbers

Acoustically effective room dividers and desk partitions structure open-plan areas, create visual calm, and promote concentrated work. At the same time, they protect sensitive conversations – for example, in consultation zones, call centers, or administrative units – by directly shielding direct sound.
Thanks to their modular construction, these elements can also be integrated retrospectively without interfering with the building structure – ideal for existing building conversions or flexible room concepts.

Creative Potential through Targeted Motif Selection

The combination with printable acoustic textiles in photographic resolution creates additional design potential: motif selection, color concepts, or CI-compliant branding make every acoustic element part of the overall architectural concept. Thanks to tool-free interchangeable prints, zones can be updated seasonally, thematically, or project-related.

Acoustic walls for more peace and structure in open-plan offices

Open-plan offices enable flexible working arrangements and promote team collaboration. At the same time, they present acoustic challenges that can impair concentration and communication. Acoustic walls help to clearly delineate different zones in the room and significantly reduce noise levels. They contribute to creating quiet work areas and making meetings more pleasant. In combination with motivating images, they support a productive and inspiring work environment.

Acoustic pictures for peace and well-being in the dining room

At the Pain Clinic Kiel, the dining hall was transformed into a place of relaxation. Large-scale wall motifs with regional relevance and single-color ceiling sails not only serve as design elements but also as highly effective acoustic solutions. Background noise is noticeably reduced, and conversations are clearly intelligible – for more peace and well-being. "The effect is impressive," praises Prof. Dr. Hartmut Göbel. With our acoustic pictures, every room becomes an acoustic and visual highlight.

Acoustic Partitions – Effective Room Solutions for Focused Work

Modern offices favor open-plan concepts that promote communication and flexibility. At the same time, there is a desire for privacy and undisturbed work. Acoustic partitions offer a well-thought-out solution here: desk screens create a visual and acoustic separation directly at the workstation. Larger elements divide the room into different areas – for example, for teamwork, meetings, or concentrated work. This preserves the open architecture while simultaneously creating optimal conditions for focused work.

Lighting Solutions with Design and Biological Impact

Modern lighting concepts deliberately focus on indirect, glare-free light that can be dynamically adapted to the time of day, use, and room situation. Primex light walls and light ceilings create expansive light sources that are both aesthetically pleasing and physiologically beneficial.
Illuminated textile surfaces positively influence

  • color perception and contrasts
  • visual performance and concentration
  • hormone balance (e.g., via melatonin and serotonin regulation)
  • visual depth and spatial effect

All lighting systems are dimmable, optionally via DALI control, and combine low operating costs with high longevity. Brilliant textile prints also allow corporate designs, wayfinding systems, or atmospheric image motifs to be integrated into the lighting design.

LED Light Wall – Atmospheric Highlights for Modern Meeting Rooms

Windowless or dark areas often lack the right atmosphere – an LED light wall offers an effective solution here. With atmospheric motifs, individually selectable colors, and modern LED technology, the room is visually opened and impressively staged. Especially in the meeting room, this creates a highlight that is not only visually appealing but also positively influences the perception of space. The design can be perfectly integrated into modern concepts such as the industrial look and turns every wall into a real eye-catcher.

From Grey to Wow: LED Light Wall with Nature Experience

A dreary, gray office wall was transformed into a vibrant window to nature: Our 14-meter-long and 2.50-meter-high LED light wall brings a sun-drenched forest clearing directly into the open-plan office. Created in collaboration with the architectural firm Mutert, it captivates with impressive depth and atmosphere. The Casambi control system perfectly adjusts light and brightness – for every time of day and every activity. This turns work into an inspiring experience.

Combined Systems: Light & Acoustics in One Product

A particular advantage for architecturally demanding projects lies in the possibility of combining lighting and acoustic functions: illuminated acoustic pictures, suspended light sails or lighting elements with a sound-absorbing core combine spatial effect, function, and design in one product – compact, low-maintenance, and high-quality.
All systems meet relevant fire protection requirements (B1 according to DIN 4102, optional A2) and are therefore ideally suited for public institutions, school buildings, healthcare areas, and industrial interior fit-outs.

Frequently Asked Questions

What are Primex lighting and acoustic solutions suitable for in office and administrative environments?

Primex offers specialized lighting and acoustic solutions for workplaces in offices, public authorities, public institutions, and administrative buildings. The systems not only improve room acoustics and lighting but also significantly contribute to the well-being, concentration, and work quality of employees. They are specifically used in open-plan offices, meeting rooms, waiting areas, and reception areas.

Why are good lighting and acoustic conditions so important in public facilities?

Public spaces such as administrative offices, town halls, educational institutions, and social welfare offices often experience high foot traffic and a high volume of conversations. Disturbing reverberation and insufficient lighting negatively affect the quality of work and communication. Primex solutions create a calm, structured atmosphere – ideal for concentrated work, consultations, or teamwork.

How do Primex products support modern office and administrative architecture?

The systems offer architects and planners maximum creative freedom – from classic to organic forms. As a wall or ceiling solution,
freestanding or integrated, luminous ceilings, acoustic pictures, ceiling rafts, or room dividers adapt flexibly to modern room concepts in public authorities and offices. CI-compliant design is also easily implementable.

Which fire protection requirements do Primex products meet?

All textiles and materials used comply with fire protection class B1 (flame retardant) as standard, according to DIN 4102.
Upon request, selected materials are also available in fire protection class A2 (non-combustible). This option offers additional safety, especially for use in public buildings, assembly halls, or areas with increased fire protection requirements. We will be happy to advise you on the suitable material designs for your project.

Are Primex light and acoustic elements manufactured in compliance with the German Workplace Ordinance?

Yes, Primex produces all lighting and acoustic solutions in compliance with the German Workplace Ordinance (ArbStättV) and the supplementary Technical Rules for Workplaces (ASR). Special attention is paid to ASR A1.5/1.2 "Floors," which states: Obstacles and elevations up to 4 mm are considered safe if they are beveled or integrated into the floor.
Primex therefore optionally uses 3 mm flat base plates that neither pose a tripping hazard nor restrict the traffic route. These particularly flat base plates ensure maximum occupational safety and comply with current safety regulations.

How do acoustic elements specifically help in everyday office life?

In offices with high speech activity, such as call centers, consulting units, or open-plan offices, acoustic elements specifically reduce disruptive reverberation times.
Sound-absorbing ceiling sails, partition walls, and wall absorbers minimize noise and improve speech intelligibility. The so-called Lombard effect – raising one's voice in noise – is reduced, which prevents stress and facilitates communication.

Can lighting and acoustic solutions also be installed in existing buildings?

Yes. Especially in public buildings with listed buildings or strict building regulations, the modular Primex solutions are ideal. They can be installed quickly and easily, removed without leaving any residue, and require no structural modifications – perfect for subsequent improvements in existing buildings.

What functions do acoustic room dividers and desk screens have in administrative buildings?

Acoustically effective room dividers structure open office spaces into clearly defined zones – for example, for individual workstations, consulting, reception, or back office. They provide visual privacy, reduce direct sound, and promote focused work. At the same time, they create visual order and a calm appearance in public areas.

Can the acoustic solutions be visually adapted to the corporate design of an authority or institution?

Yes. The acoustic textiles can be printed freely – for example, with the institution's logo, urban motifs, or subtle color concepts. In this way, the elements integrate harmoniously into existing design guidelines or architectural concepts and support a uniform appearance.

In which rooms of public facilities is the use particularly sensible?

Primex solutions are optimally suited for:

  • Open-plan offices and administrative areas
  • Citizen service centers and advice centers
  • Conference and training rooms
  • Waiting areas and reception zones
  • Common rooms and team workstations
  • Call centers or telephone workstations in public authorities
What technical requirements do Primex acoustic solutions meet?

All products are tested according to DIN EN ISO 354 for sound absorption and comply with applicable fire protection regulations. They are durable, easy to maintain, and specially designed for high usage frequency in public facilities and office structures.

How flexible are the solutions when office requirements change?

Thanks to tool-free interchangeable textile coverings, the elements can be easily adapted seasonally, project-related or during restructuring – both visually and acoustically. This is a great advantage, especially in agile or hybrid office concepts of public institutions.
