What lighting technology does Primex use?
That depends on the format, design, application, and the desired lighting effect. Primex generally distinguishes between LED systems with edge lighting and LED systems with surface lighting.
With edge lighting, the LEDs are mounted on the sides of the frame and shine from the edges toward the center. This solution is particularly well-suited for flat LED fabric tension frames, illuminated images, and many applications with a height or depth of up to approximately 200 cm. Edge lighting usually produces a very effective result with colored designs. For very bright, single-color, or large-scale designs, the lighting should be adjusted in advance.
With surface lighting, the LEDs are mounted across the entire surface of the back panel. We particularly recommend this option for larger frames starting at approximately 200 cm, light ceilings, large-format light walls, and projects with high requirements for brightness and uniform illumination. Surface lighting is exceptionally uniform, powerful, and ideal for solid-color prints or sophisticated architectural and brand presentations.
Depending on the system, our LED solutions are dimmable, available in various light colors, and can be integrated with control systems such as DALI, an app, a wall panel, or smart home systems upon request. Can I reorder the fabric banner later and replace it?
Yes, that’s exactly what makes our mounting systems so special: You can easily reorder the right fabric banner in our online store. There’s a dedicated section called “Reorder Fabric Banners” available for this purpose.
Our textile display frames, light walls, light ceilings, acoustic panels, and trade show walls are designed to be sustainable and long-lasting. The graphic can be easily replaced as needed without having to replace the entire frame system.

How should I prepare the print files?
To ensure that your design is produced with the highest quality, we have provided detailed instructions inthe "Downloads" sectionunder "Print Data Information." There you will find guidelines on file formats, resolution, layout templates, and uploading files. Our specialized department will carefully review your files and contact you if any adjustments are necessary.
What image resolution is recommended?
The optimal image resolution depends on the desired subject, the format, and, above all, the viewing distance. For smaller fabric-stretched frames or acoustic prints that will be viewed from a short distance of about one meter, we recommend an image resolution of approximately 150 dpi in the final format to achieve a particularly detailed and vibrant print result.
For large-format or XXL textile stretching frames, the viewing distance is generally much greater—often between two and five meters. In this case, even a lower resolution of approximately 35 dpi in the final format may be sufficient, since the image will still appear high-quality and clear when viewed from a distance.
In general, printing on fabric banners is very forgiving and delivers impressive, vibrant results even in large formats. If you have any concerns about the quality of your files, we’d be happy to provide personalized advice. You also have the option of ordering a sample print in advance to reliably check the color rendering, detail sharpness, and appearance of the material.
Are the printed textiles/fabric banners flame-retardant?
Yes, our printed fabric banners are designed for professional use in commercial and public spaces. For many applications—such as in hotels, schools, exhibition halls, retail spaces, offices, medical practices, or public buildings—fire safety is an important part of project planning.
Fire Safety:
The fabric banners we use have a fire safety classification of B-s1, d0 in accordance with EN 13501 and are therefore suitable for many commercial and public applications.
Does Primex offer an installation service?
Yes, upon request, we offer a professional installation service for our systems.
To ensure we can reliably plan the on-site installation and realistically estimate the effort involved, we ask that you complete our installation checklist in advance and send it to us. Based on this information, we will review the structural conditions, the desired system, format, mounting situation, and any special requirements at the installation site.
Our team will then prepare a customized quote for professional installation. This ensures you receive a reliable, professional installation solution—tailored to your project, your schedule, and the technical requirements on-site.
How sustainable are Primex products?
For us, sustainability means durable products, responsibly sourced materials, and resource-efficient production.
A very high percentage of our systems are designed, cut, and manufactured at our facility in Hanau —with short production paths, rigorous quality control, and durable craftsmanship.
In our production process, we rely on green electricity, eco-friendly printing processes that use water-based inks, and packaging materials made from recycled materials. We deliberately avoid using packaging that has been unnecessarily bleached.
Our fabric banners are made from Oeko-TEX® 100-certified textiles; our acoustic fleece is 100% recyclable, and production scraps are sent entirely for recycling. Our high-quality aluminum frames are also durable and 100% recyclable —a sustainable alternative to short-lived wooden frames.
For lighting systems, we use efficient, high-performance LEDs from premium manufacturers. They are durable, energy-efficient, and generate very little heat.
How long does production and delivery take?
The processing and delivery time begins upon receipt of payment and applies to standard commercial quantities. Each product category has its own delivery time. You can find the exact details on the corresponding product page.
For simple custom prints, the production time is typically around ten business days.
For more complex custom orders, such as frames in special colors or unique shapes, production can take up to three to four weeks.

What is a fabric stretching frame, and how does the piping system work?
A textile stretching frame consists of a high-quality aluminum profile into which the printed fabric is stretched using a sewn-in piping.
The result is a smooth, wrinkle-free surface—with no visible fasteners.
For which applications are textile tensioning frames suitable?
Textile display frames are versatile—they can be used in retail stores, at trade shows, in offices, hotels, restaurants, schools, or medical offices.
They also work great as room dividers or window display solutions.
Are fabric stretching frames also suitable for outdoor use?
Yes. For outdoor use, we particularly recommend our outdoor frame systems:
PR80 Outdoor Frame:
The exclusive PR80 outdoor frame, which can be easily tensioned without spring-loaded tensioning elements, offers an outstanding combination of flexibility, quick installation, and cost-effectiveness. It is ideal for a wide variety of outdoor applications, especially when designs need to be changed frequently. Thanks to its innovative tensioning technology, the PR80 allows for the use of printed textiles and PVC tarps—without creating wrinkles. The use of a flat piping system makes it easy to quickly change graphics from the front without having to disassemble the frame. Thanks to its pre-assembled corners with tensioning technology, the PR80 can be retroactively expanded in a modular fashion with additional profile elements and is also available with LED lighting upon request.
PR32 Outdoor Frame:
The simple PR32 outdoor frame offers an outstanding combination of flexibility, easy assembly, and cost-effectiveness, making it ideal for a wide range of outdoor applications. It is our most cost-effective outdoor frame. Unlike the PR80 outdoor frame, the PR32 outdoor frame does not have a tensioning mechanism and is therefore only suitable for textiles and materials with some stretch. The PR32 is designed for sizes up to 3 x 3 m and cannot be expanded modularly at a later date. Due to its shallow depth, the PR32 outdoor frame is ideal for unlit installations. When replacing the fabric, it should ideally be cut out; otherwise, it may be damaged by the barbs—which ensure the fabric is securely held in the frame—when pulled out of the groove. The new fabric can be easily inserted from the front without disassembling the frame.
How is the frame protected from the elements when used outdoors?
The frame is optimally protected by the use of a back panel. This not only ensures even illumination but also protects against water ingress, insects, and small animals. It also prevents light from escaping when the surface is uneven. For optimal protection, we recommend a white back panel, such as one made of Aludibond or a white blockout fabric.
Are the acoustic frames certified? What does "sound absorber class A" mean?
Our acoustic products have been tested and certified in a reverberation chamber in accordance with DIN EN ISO 354.
When mounted directly on a wall without any spacing, they achieve sound absorber class A—which indicates very high sound absorption.
Explanation of sound absorption classes:
Class A: Very high absorption (alpha value between 0.90 and 1.00)
Class B: High absorption (alpha value between 0.80 and 0.85)
Class C: Medium absorption (alpha value between 0.60 and 0.75)

Is there an in-person consultation on room acoustics?
For larger-scale projects, we offer on-site consultations. The first step is our customized acoustic analysis, during which we assess the current conditions and determine your needs. In the second step, we develop a visualization concept tailored to your spaces.
What are the advantages of LED frames?
LED frames are energy-efficient, durable, and low-maintenance. They provide uniform illumination and are particularly versatile thanks to the ease with which images can be changed.
What mounting depths and sizes are available for LED frames?
Our LED frames are available in depths ranging from 55 mm to 150 mm—depending on the desired lighting effect. They can be custom-made in any size, from small formats to XXL surfaces.
What light colors are available?
We offer neutral white (approx. 4,000 K) and daylight white (approx. 6,500 K) as standard. Other color temperatures are available upon request—including tunable white systems for flexibly adjustable lighting.

Are LED frames dimmable or controllable, and how long do the LEDs last?
Yes. Many systems can be dimmed or controlled via DALI or smart lighting. Our LEDs have a service life of up to 50,000 hours—which means they can be used for years without needing to be replaced.
What is the warranty for LED products?
A 2-year warranty is included as standard. An extension to 5 years is available as an option for an additional fee—ideal for long-term projects.
What is the difference between surface lighting and edge lighting?
- Flat-panel lighting: LEDs behind the entire surface—high brightness and brilliance.
- Edge lighting: LEDs integrated into the frame—uniform, subtle illumination with a slim design.

Can LED frames be plugged into an outlet?
Yes. Our LED frames come with a Schuko plug and cables in various lengths (for example, 3 meters or 5 meters).
They plug into a standard 230-volt AC outlet.
The conversion to the required LED operating voltage (DC, 12 or 24 volts) is handled by a ballast integrated into the light box.
The position of the cable outlet can be customized.
What do B1 certificates and fire resistance classes describe?
B1 Certificates & Fire Resistance Classes
The European Standard describes the procedure for classifying the fire performance of construction products and products used within building components. High-voltage, control, and communication cables, as well as related wiring, are not covered, as their fire safety classification is governed by EN 13501.
The assessment takes into account how the respective construction product is used and installed in practice. The standard distinguishes between three product groups: general construction products, floor coverings, and pipe insulation. Each of these categories is subject to its own requirements and classification rules.
The European standard was developed by Technical Committee CEN/TC 127 “Structural Fire Protection,” whose secretariat is located at the British Standards Institution (BSI) in the United Kingdom. Shapes—textile architecture: round elements, curved frames, light walls, and more—are our specialty—perfectly tailored to your architecture. We can also design and build geometric spatial elements from flat panels using our framing systems. Our in-house engineering department works with CAD and 3D models—custom designs are our specialty.
Lighting technology for specific requirements: We offer LED solutions tailored to the application, with manual or automatic dimming control, such as DALI or Casambi. For lighting with a variable light color in the context of Human Centric Lighting (HCL), we use Tunable White; for colored lighting, we use RGB lighting. In general, we take your requirements for luminous flux (lumens), light color (Kelvin), color rendering index (CRI, Ra), etc., into account.
