General Requirements for Print Data

All important information regarding the correct preparation of your print data can be found in our information sheet "Primex Creating Print Data". Of course, we will carefully check your print data before starting production. Should the resolution or quality be insufficient for the desired print, we will contact you immediately to discuss the next steps together.

File Formats and Scale

Please create each image file as a print-ready PDF in PDF/X-3 standard or, alternatively, as a JPG. All motifs should generally be created at a scale of 1:1. If a motif exceeds a size of 5,080 mm, please provide it at a scale of 1:10; the scaling factor used must be specified.

Ideally, you should create your print data directly in the desired final format. For round textile prints, you can also provide us with square image files – we will gladly adapt them for the round cut.

Transmission of Print Data

You can conveniently transmit your print data via WeTransfer. Alternatively, sending by email is also possible. Please note a maximum file size of 10 MB.

Resolution and Viewing Distance

The recommended resolution of your print data depends on the subsequent viewing distance. For motifs viewed from 0–2 meters, we recommend 100 dpi. For a viewing distance of 2–3 meters, 75 dpi is sufficient, and for distances of more than 3 meters, at least 35 dpi.

Please note: 1 inch equals 2.54 cm.

Color Mode and Color Settings

Only colors in the CMYK color space (Euroscale) will be printed. Black areas should be created as rich black (C 80%, M 80%, Y 80%, K 100%) to achieve a rich print result.

Images in RGB or grayscale mode as well as spot colors like Pantone C, HKS K or RAL will be automatically converted to CMYK during the printing process. This may result in slight color deviations. For the most color-accurate result possible, we therefore recommend preparing the data in CMYK beforehand.

Bleed Allowance

For layouts for flat keder finishes (rubber lips), a bleed allowance of 15 mm all around is required. If this is not provided, we will automatically create the bleed by mirroring the motif.

Please note that the dimensions you ordered refer to the frame outer dimension, i.e., the visible outer dimension of the frame. The bleed of 1.5 cm all around is outside this visible dimension.

Cost of Data Check

1. Standard - free of charge

Automated check of your print files for dimensions and technical feasibility.

2. Plus - €19.90

Manual check of your data including PDF approval by email

3. Premium - €49.90

Comprehensive data check plus proof print in 40 x 60 cm format (approx. DIN A3) on the selected material

With the Premium data check option including proof print, you get maximum security and full control over your print result. This additional service combines a comprehensive technical check of your print data with a realistic proof print on the original material you selected. This way, you avoid production errors and ensure that colors, details, and material effect exactly match your expectations.

Scope of Services:

1. Comprehensive Data Check

  • Checking format and proportions
  • Checking resolution and print quality
  • Checking bleed and placement
  • Checking color mode and printability

2. Proof Print on Original Material

  • Proof print in 40 x 60 cm format
  • Print on the material of your choice
  • Delivery without finishing

The proof print serves to approximate your desired color specifications. If exact color values are required, please send us corresponding color value specifications or a proof with defined reference values in advance.

3. Optimized Display of Your Print File

For maximum control, your file will be specially prepared:

  • 50% display of your motif in original size
  • 50% display of your motif at 100% zoom
  • Total format: 40 × 60 cm

This allows both the overall impression and fine details to be reliably assessed.

Important note on delivery

The proof print is delivered without finishing (e.g., without keder).

FAQ: Graphic Data Check for Textile Printing – Primex

How long does Primex store the print data for?

The print data submitted for your order will be stored for a period of 12 months for organizational and production-related reasons. This allows quicker access to existing data for reorders or inquiries. After this period, the data will be routinely deleted.

What is the artwork data check at Primex?

The graphics data check at Primex ensures that your print data is technically perfect and optimally prepared for textile printing. Our goal is to deliver a high-quality print result and to avoid possible production delays from the outset.

We carefully check your print data against the following criteria:
  • File format: Are the data available in a printable format such as PDF or JPG?
  • Resolution: Does the resolution in the final format correspond to at least 35 dpi for large formats or 100 dpi for smaller print products?
  • Bleed: Is there sufficient bleed of at least 15 mm?
  • Color mode: Are the data in CMYK color mode? (RGB data must be converted, which can lead to color deviations.)
  • Fonts: Are all fonts converted to paths or fully embedded?
  • Transparencies and spot colors: Are transparencies correctly reduced and spot colors professionally defined?
What happens if my data is deficient?

Should your print data not meet the technical requirements, we will inform you immediately. You then have the following options:

  • You send us corrected print data.
  • Our graphics team will adapt your data for an additional charge.
  • Alternatively, you can approve the print at your own risk.
Which file formats does Primex prefer?

For optimal printing, we recommend:

Vector formats: PDF – ideal for logos and text.

Image formats: JPG with high resolution – perfect for photos and large-area print motifs.

Why is the correct resolution so important?

Insufficient resolution can lead to blurry or pixelated prints. For a sharp and high-quality print result, we generally require 35–100 dpi at original size. For large-format prints, a lower resolution may also be sufficient due to the greater viewing distance.

What should be considered regarding the colors?

Please always create your print data in CMYK color mode. Data in RGB mode may show color deviations in print.
If you would like to work with spot colors (e.g. Pantone), we will be happy to coordinate these with you in advance, as not all color shades can be reproduced exactly in textile printing.

Does Primex support data preparation?

Yes, absolutely. Our graphics team will be happy to help you prepare or adjust your print data. Whether it's minor corrections or complete data creation – just contact us, we'll be happy to advise you.

Is there a pre-print approval?

Upon request, you will receive a binding proof PDF or a soft proof for final checking before production begins. This ensures that the content, colors, and quality meet your expectations.

How much does the graphic data check cost at Primex?

The basic graphics data check at Primex is usually free of charge. Should further checks or graphic corrections be necessary, we will, of course, inform you transparently in advance about any possible additional costs.
